The Texas Youth Advocates for Legislative Change, formerly The Texas Teens, was formed in 1999 through the inspiration of members of the Texas Association of Addiction Professionals to provide a counterpoint to those people in this country who can only see the disease of addiction and not the hope of recovery. Today’s Texas Youth Advocates are young men and women who have a passion for helping others, a message of hope through treatment and recovery, and a desire to change the way that policymakers view those with the disease of addiction.
